Balance Body & Mind

Jiva welcomes all students of all levels and
interests — new or more experienced, young and old alike. We are a small yoga studio of warm and friendly teachers and students who enjoy supporting each other in a practice that helps us to live more fully. Our aim is to help each student develop a lifelong daily yoga practice and to experience the health and wellness that this brings.

We recognize that every student may have a different purpose in taking yoga classes. Some of you will come for flexibility, strength or better overall fitness; others of you will come to reduce stress; and still yet others of you may come searching for deeper spiritual meaning in your lives. Whatever your goal is, we are here to help you realize it.

Jiva offers Vinyasa yoga. A dynamic yoga flow which builds strength and flexibility. For new students, we offer a Level One that provides a safe and friendly environment for getting familiar with your body and basic asanas (postures). For students with some or more experience, we offer All Levels classes. For those who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga, we also offer a variety of workshops. Please join us as we share in this inspiring healing art.

YOGA reduces stress and tension, builds and tones muscles, realigns the entire body for better posture, improves circulation and digestion, teaches correct breathing, strengthens the immune system, enhances concentration and focus, enhances creativity.

How to come prepared:

A good attitude and a sense of adventure is the best way to come
to your mat

Dress comfortably. Be prepared to sweat.

It would be best not to eat anything any later than two hours before class.

Inform your teacher of any injuries or health conditions so they can help you customize a safer practice.

Cell phones, jewelry, strong perfumes, conversations during class and gum chewing are distracting to your fellow students, be courteous.

ALL LEVELS:

Knowledge of postures is suggested. The class consists of flowing vinyasa sequences, breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment, and relaxation. There are seated, standing, & inverted postures, with opportunities for you to choose to make it harder or easier based on your level of experience. Be safe first and a little curious and you’ll probably be surprised.Eclectic music plays an integral role.

Hatha Yoga :

Hatha yoga is the classical approach to yoga that emphasizes physical
posture and alignment. Focusing on breath awareness, this system energizes mind, body, and spirit. Designed to be suitable for any level ofpractitioner.

YIN Yoga/Restorative:

Yin: Specific postures (typically seated) are held for 3-5 minutes to access the dense, fiberous ligaments or connective tissue of the joints. Typically in the joints closest to the core of the body: The hips, lower back and sacrum area.

We invite you to Restorative Yoga, a sweet blend of relaxing supported poses, deep stretching, breath awareness, meditation, all tools to inspire you to relax, renew and revitalize your mind, body and spirt.
